India gate

The India Gate is a war memorial located at New Delhi, India. It is dedicated to the soldiers of the Indian Army who died during World War I. The India Gate was built to remember the 82,000 soldiers from the Undivided Indian Army who died fighting for the British Empire in World War I and the Third Anglo-Afghan War.War memorials are buildings or other structures that are dedicated to celebrating victory in war, or to honoring those who died or were injured in war. The India Gate Lawns are a popular spot for people to relax in the evening, especially because of the light show at the fountains. There is also a lot of street food available, which makes it a perfect place to grab a bite. Currently, there is a National War Memorial being constructed at the ‘C’ Hexagon of India Gate to honor all of the armed forces members who have passed away since 1947.

Lotus Temple

The Lotus Temple is considered a place of worship in New Delhi, India. It was consecrated and opened to the public in December 1986. Designed by Iranian architect Fariborz Sahba, who won acclaim for the project even before the temple was completed and received several awards later on.

The Lotus Temple is considered a special building as it has nine sides, which is a number believed by the Bahāʾī people that has magical power. Lotus temple is surrounded by landscaped gardens and nine pools and is made out of white marble. It comprises 27 independent marble “petals,” which are clustered into groups of three to form nine sides, through which open nine entrances into a central space and into groups of nine to form three concentric rings. The first ring faces outward that forms canopies over the nine entrances. The second ring covers the outer hall. The innermost ring- petals curve inward which partially enclose the central prayer hall that accommodates over 2,500 people.

Raj Ghat

Mahatma Gandhi was a leader in Indian history who was different from others because of his visionary thinking and his actions for Indian independence. His thoughts and beliefs are still followed today. It is believed that Raj Ghat was the name of a historic ghat that was located in Old Delhi. Furthermore, there was a Raj Ghat Gate that opened the way to Raj Ghat towards the west of the Yamuna River. As time passed, Gandhi’s memorial was named Raj Ghat. Vanu G. Bhuta was the one who gave his time in the making of Gandhi’s memorial which is a black marble platform symbolizing the simplicity of his life and also embracing his last words ‘Hey Ram’. Raj Ghat is a memorial in India for Mahatma Gandhi. Many famous people visit RajGhat to lay flowers on the memorial and to visit the Gandhi Memorial Museum. The museum has a film about Gandhi’s life that is shown every day.

Qutub Minar

Qutub Minar comes among the tallest minarets in Asia. It was built in Delhi at the beginning of the 13th century by Quṭb al-Dīn Aibak and was completed by his successor, Iltutmish. As the tower of the Qūwat-ul-Islām mosque, the Qutub Minar is the traditional purpose of being the place for prayer. The tower also indicates victory and serves as a victory monument.  Although Qutub Minar got highly damaged by the lightning and earthquakes that happened in the 14th and 15th centuries, the Qutub tower was repaired by the local rulers. 

The Quṭb Mīnār is a tall, skinny tower made of sandstone and marble. It has five stories, and each story has different designs carved into it. The tower is really old – it was built in the early 16th century!

Swaminarayan Akshardham

Swaminarayan Akshardham temple is the epitome of Indian culture, architecture, and spirituality. It is a highly famous Hindu temple and is a complex of spirituality and culture. This temple is dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan. It is a moment of pride for us that Akshardham has its name in the Guinness Book of World Records as the World’s Largest Comprehensive Hindu Temple. The Akshardham temple has immensely beautiful architecture. The Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in Delhi is a large and beautiful temple with eight carved mandapams (pillars). The temple is full of Hindu teachings and traditions, and the centerpieces are two large statues of Lord Swaminarayan and 20,000 other deities, sages, and important people in Indian history. The temple is a great example of Indian architecture and spirituality. The temple complex has the largest step well and does various water shows that are pleasant to eyes. 

Jama Masjid

At the heart of Old Delhi, is situated the capital’s largest mosque that is built at 10m elevation. There is a place to hold 25,000 people in the area. It was Shah Jahan’s final architectural achievement, which has marble and red sandstone and is known as Friday Mosque. It was built in 1644 and 1658. The four watchtowers were used for security. Two minarets are standing 40m high, one of which can be climbed for amazing views. There are a number of entrance gates, but only Gates 1, 2, and 3 allow access to the mosque for visitors. The eastern gate was used for imperial use only. Entrance is free, but you have to buy a ₹300 ticket if you are carrying a camera of any sort (including a camera phone), even if you don’t intend to take photos. The Jama Masjid is a mosque in New Delhi, India. It was designed by Edwin Lutyens and incorporated into his design of New Delhi. Visitors to the mosque should dress conservatively and remove their shoes before entering.

Red Fort

The red fort also known as the lal qila is an ancient Mughal fort in Old Delhi. It was built by the great Shah Jahan in the middle of the 17th century. Red fort has been acknowledged by the UNESCO world heritage site in the year 2007. The fort has big red walls that are 23 meters high. There are lots of different buildings inside the fort, as a hall for public meetings, a hall for private meetings, a mosque, and gardens. Some of the buildings have balconies, and there are also baths and canals inside the fort. Red Fort remains as the most attractive tourist attraction in India.

Bangla Sahib Gurudwara

GURDWARA SRI BANGLA SAHIB is located in New Delhi, the capital of India. It was  Built during the sacred visit by SRI GURU HAR KRISHAN JI to Delhi. It is said that Mughal king Aurangzeb requested Guru Sahib to come to Delhi and visit them. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is one of the most sacred Sikh gurudwara and known for its association with the eighth Sikh Guru, Guru Har Krishan, as well as the holy pond inside its complex, known as the “Sarovar.” People from all over the world can visit this holy place and can have the famous langar bhojan which is made by the various Sikhs of the gurdwara. There is no fee to visit this holy place. They offer langar Sewa to anyone who wants to avail of it.

Jantar Mantar

Jantar Mantar is a brilliant testimony of science and beliefs. It is situated at the center of Delhi and is one of the easiest places to see the tourists. The word Jantar/Jantra is derived from the Hindi word yantra, which means an instrument, whereas mantra means to calculate. The main goal of the Jantar Mantar was to mix the astronomical tables and analyze the movements of the sun, moon, and other planets. Jantar Mantar was built by Sawai Jai Singh 2 and he built five Jantar Mantar but only four remain till now. The sundial measures the time of day, which is right to a half-second. 1724 is the actual year of the Jantar Mantar construction. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
